History Of The West Washington Guest House

The original construction was completed in 1914 for the Snyder family who owned Snyder Drug Company. The Snyder’s son, John, grew up in the house and later became Secretary of the Treasury under President Truman.

During the Depression, Mrs. Bernice Link purchased the house and converted it into eight apartments. It is estimated that families of four lived in each apartment for a total of 32 people living in the house. Mrs. Link sold the house to Dr. & Mrs. J. P. Goad who lived in the house for 32 years and occupied 2 of the apartments while renting out the remaining six. Ken Stacks purchased the house in 1992 for use as apartments and to eventually convert the house into a Bed & Breakfast Inn.
