    Relax by the Cozy Fireplace

  • The Cottage Room

Cozy BedThis cozy room is located next to the Bower Room and adjacent to our desert garden behind the main house. A botanical theme permeates the room: Boldly graphic draperies depict a vine run rampant. A pair of large mosaic-topped cast iron garden urns stand duty as bedside tables. Warmly hued Mexican terra cotta tiles cover the floor. There's a small writing table/vanity and a checkerboard-tiled shower over a long, deep soaking tub. The Cottage Room has three windows and overlooks our desert garden. There is a trellis behind the room where you can relax in the shade.

  • Catalina Room

Our largest room (15'x31') is located in the basement below the living room. But this is not your typical basement! Originally the family billiards room, The Catalina Room has an eight and a half foot ceiling, windows set up high that bring in a surprising amount of light, a scored and polished concrete floor, and rich mahogany moldings and doors. On one end of the space is a sumptuous king bed. On the other end you can relax in the comfortable sitting area furnished with a down-filled sofa and chairs. A beautiful antique mirrored armoire and writing table stand between the two areas.

    Sumptuous King Bed

You'll find a jetted tub/shower in what once was a large cedar-lined walk-in closet, now painted a warm cottage white. Dim the lights, fire up the jets, and bubble away in this spa-like bath room. The room comes equipped with a 32" flat panel TV with DVD player, AM/FM CD stereo with iPod dock, phone, alarm clock, plush robes, iron & board, and individual (quiet) heating and A/C unit. The Catalina Room is a favorite of Frommer's travel writer Karl Samson who likened it to having the feel of a traditional adobe home.

On the other side is a wonderfully large and comfy seating area with a canvas covered love seat, a pair of upholstered reading chairs and a marble-topped desk. The room is wrapped by eight windows that bathe the room in light. The hardwood floors are a gleaming red and white oak.

The vintage bathroom has a stained glass transom window, a full length beveled mirror, plenty of storage space, and attractive art nouveau tiles and sconces.
