The Lowrance family built their Spanish-style home in 1882 on a high bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River. The expansion done in 1900 was meant to make the home the finest in eastern Kerr County, and it was. With its 4000 square feet of living space and 1000 square feet of covered arched porches, it remains one of the Hill Country's finest historical homes.
As a guest at the Rockin River Inn you can enjoy the healing ambiance of a Guadalupe River setting. You'll be a personal guest with a room filled with favorite antiques. The Inn is a getaway spot for city dwellers, who need to feel taken care of for a change. In the morning you can enjoy a big country breakfast. Let us know about any special dietary needs you may have. Our goal is to make you feel all the warmth and welcome that the "Heart of Texas" has to offer.
Whether you're a regular Hill Country visitor or coming for the first time, the Rockin River Inn a Texas Hill Country BB, offers you all the things people come to the HIll Country for. Sit down to a full gourmet breakfast including farm raised eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, and home baked pastries. Gather on the porch or around the fireplace to enjoy visiting with other guests. Treat yourself to our homemade desserts fresh baked in the Rockin River Inn kitchen.
Sit on the bluff and look across the grassy meadows to the river and fresh-water spring lined with giant cypress trees. Wade in the river or sit on the big flat rocks and meditate. Swim in fresh spring water in the Rockin River Inn swimming pool. In warm weather tube, canoe or kayak on the Guadalupe River. Fish from the banks or in the river.
Bird Watch. A red shouldered hawk roosts in our cypress trees and a blue heron feeds from our pond. Besides cardinals and blue jays, we've seen chickadees, gold finch, tufted titmice, and varieties of humming birds. The rare green kingfisher has been seen fishing in the river.
Star gaze. Few electric lights are on at night here, so the sky is more visible. We finish each clear day by sitting under the stars and the Milky Way.
Explore the Center Point Store for antiques and collectibles, and see the 2nd oldest bank in Kerr County just one block from the Inn. Walk one mile to the Center Point Cemetery where 33 Texas Rangers are buried.
Just across the street, see the Mesa Bronze Foundry and Western Art Gallery casting pieces by famous Texas artists like G. Harvey. Take the tour to learn how the lost wax process is done.
