Introduction
Prince Solms Inn Bed & Breakfast has become one of Texas' most famous landmarks. We have been in continuous operation since being built by German craftsmen in 1898! Originally named the Comal Hotel by the Eggeling family who built and operated it for more than 50 years, Prince Solms Inn, located one block east of the Town Plaza, is the oldest operational hotel in New Braunfels.
Prince Solms Inn'smain building features two luxury suites on the first floor and eight guest rooms on the second floor, all with private baths. The second floor guest rooms are named for the gloriously 1940's patterned wallpaper which decorates their walls. All of the suites, rooms, and parlor are furnished with sturdy antiques, exceptional lighting fixtures, and carefully chosen paintings and prints.
Prince Solms Inn also features an 1860 Feed Store that was newly renovated in the year 2000 into three large guest rooms, all with private baths. The stone patio and some of the courtyard came from the floor of an old Comal County jail, while the outdoor fireplace captures the feeling of the Spanish Governor's Palace in San Antonio.
The Joseph Klein Haus, built in 1852, sits just behind the inn. This cottage can be rented by the day or week, and is ideal for small families and honeymooners. Both the Prince Solms Inn and the Joseph Klein Haus are registered Texas heritage landmarks.
Upon arrival our large front porch welcomes you! Our beautiful front entry doors are 10-feet high and contain exquisitely detailed etched glass. Relax and enjoy a full country breakfast in our dining room or if the weather is nice, the courtyard is the perfect retreat. For those who would like a more intimate breakfast, let us bring breakfast to your room.
Music and nightly entertainment can be had just downstairs in the Prince Solms Inn at the Uptown Piano Bar. Outside and up from the Cellar is the Uptown Courtyard, a great place for weddings, receptions, showers, private parties and special events. We now have a spa located in our carriage house behind the Inn.
New Braunfels is dotted with antique shops and historic structures. Tubing the Comal River is very popular with our guests, and canoeing and rafting are also popular sports on the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers.
