Introduction
In the heart of the Texas Hill Country, nestled beneath huge old oak trees, there is a cozy bed and breakfast guesthouse called The Pickett House. The exterior of the cottage is constructed of native stone, which is reminiscent of a German Sunday House.
The interior has an inviting warm charm with a pleasing mix of styles, with both English Country and Texas antiques.
The house has been tastefully restored to a turn-of-the-century home, the bedroom complete with queen-sized bed. A double hide-a-bed sofa in the parlor provides additional sleeping space for accompanying children or other guests.
For your dining-at-home convenience, the kitchen is equipped with microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Tucked into a sunlit corner is a four seated dining table, the perfect spot to enjoy a mug of freshly brewed coffee. Your hostess will stock the refrigerator with delectables such as fresh fruit in season, homemade breads and pastries, jams, jellies, cereals, coffee and tea.
The Texas Hill Country offers plentiful shopping and dining in and around Johnson City. Other attractions include the nearby L.B.J. Ranch and boyhood home. Spectacular seasonal wildflower displays and abundant rivers and streams provide the most scenic of drives.
In the spring, come see the profusion of bluebonnets on the Bluebonnet Trail or take part in Hill Country Day. In the summer, come see events such as the Blanco County Fair and Rodeo and the Gillespie Country Fair and Horse Races. Holiday events include Lights Spectacular, Hill Country Style, as well as Marble Falls Christmas on the Lake and Fredericksburg Kristkindl Market.
