Old Mulberry Inn is a romantic bed and breakfast, located in the historic district. The inn offers five distinctively decorated guest rooms and three-course gourmet breakfasts. Guest rooms feature private baths, antiques and heirlooms, original art, footed tubs, showers, cable TV and VCR, CD players and ceiling fans. Memories Cottage and Moments Cottage at Mulberry Place offer even more luxurious accommodations.

The Jefferson, Texas, bed and breakfast inn was built in the style of a northern Louisiana plantation, a stunning combination of 21st-century comforts and 19th-century charm. The owners chose an architectural style that represents the antebellum heyday of Jefferson, culling antiques shops and salvage yards to furnish the stately Greek Revival inn. The old is married - for guests' comfort - with the best of the new: double-paned windows, interior sound-proofing insulation, electronic air cleaners, zoned central air, and a built-in sound system.

Meet the Innkeepers The inn's well-traveled owners, Donald and Gloria Degn, have created a bed and breakfast which represents the very best of the inns they themselves have experienced here and abroad. Old Mulberry Inn combines the look of the past with the comforts of today while reflecting the nineteenth-century charm of historic Jefferson. Gloria, a retired high school English teacher, and Donald, formerly home and garden editor for a California newspaper, met while earning postgraduate degrees at the University of Illinois. The couple have remodeled or rebuilt several homes over the past three decades. Their most recently completed project is Memories Cottage at Mulberry Place, adjacent to Old Mulberry Inn. The 140 year-old house was moved to the property from nearby Marshall. |
