Luling is a city in Caldwell and Guadalupe County, Texas, along the San Marcos River. The Luling Watermelon Thump is held each year during the last full weekend in June. It is a big celebration for the locals and draws many people from out of town as well. A favorite activity associated with the 'Thump' is the watermelon seed spitting contest. Luling is also home to Night In Old Luling, held in October. It features games, food, booths, and a scarecrow contest. The Christmas Arts and Crafts Show features Go-Texan vendors, photos with Santa and more. The Watermelon Thump is a four-day outdoor festival which celebrates the harvest of the watermelon with continuous live music, dances and concerts, carnival, watermelon seed-spitting and melon eating contests, giant parade, car show, exhibitor booths, arts and crafts and more. Mr Taco is is a quaint, little, family-owned and run Mexican Restaurant in downtown Luling. Kreuz Market Inc is is, in my opinion, the best barbeque joint in Texas. The beef is tender and tasty, and the sausage is good too.
