The Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast - McGregor (Waco area), Texas

The owner/innkeepers, who live in the house, always try to be available to render service to the guests as only homestead residents can. Located in McGregor, a small community of 4500 people, the inn is just fourteen miles west of the Richland Mall in Waco and approximately 100 miles south of Dallas and 100 miles north of Austin. Being just eight miles from Crawford, The Lighthouse has the distinction of being the longest running bed and breakfast near the President George W. Bush Ranch. For those who are interested, we offer an optional tour to Crawford and the Bush Ranch.

ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATIONS
Six new rooms, each with queen beds and private bath, are now available at our Lyon House (recently purchased from the family who built it in 1920) a couple of doors down featuring the Victoriana Room and the Texas Country Room and the Porch Room (on the first floor) and second floor rooms the Riviera Room, the Presidents Room (red, white, and blue with king and twin bed), and Carolyn's Room (which also has two beds and features the bedroom furniture of the granddaughter whose grandparents built the home.)

Come to The Lighthouse and catch the breeze and relax on the wrap-around front porch, swing in the swings, rock in a rocking chair, take in the view from the gazebo--great places to have your morning coffee--or to listen to the birds or the night sounds in the evening.

  • Rates are based on double occupancy and do not include taxes.
  • Certain discounts may apply, please inquire.
  • Extra person charge over double occupancy--$25 (requires special arrangements: please inquire).
  • Rates include breakfast for all guests.
  • Notice: We have only a limited amount of space for children, so reservations requiring rooms for children should be made early. THE LIGHTHOUSE is not an appropriate setting for pets.
A delightful breakfast is served, usually in the formal dining room--with china, crystal and old linens--on a candle-lit century-old dining table. Sometimes the occasion calls for breakfast on the porch or in the gazebo and will probably feature some of Jan's home-made banana nut bread or made-from-scratch cinnamon rolls.

The wonderful attraction of the dining room is the old 1880's dining table, chairs, and sideboards. At one time these were brand new pieces in Jan's great grandparents' home and we have memories of eating off this table ourselves when we first married and visited her grandparents when it was in their home.
