The tradition of Magnolia House began in 1923, when the stately home was designed and built for the Stein family. Edward Stein was the architect, head of the household and designer of the Gillespie County Courthouse, located in downtown Fredericksburg. Each piece of lumber was personally selected by Mr. Stein, making Magnolia House one of the most carefully constructed houses in this historic area.

Travel information about Texas

Texas is second in size only to Alaska. Texas's population grew by 1.5 million in the early 1990s, making the state the second largest in the country after California. All Texas rivers empty into the Gulf of Mexico. With the slogan “everything is bigger in Texas” for the large expanses of land, Texas is the country's biggest producer of oil, cattle, sheep, minerals and cotton. Spindletop oil field, near Beaumont, was the first gusher in North America. In 1901, it sprayed more than 800,000 barrels of oil into the air before it was brought under control. Usually you’d think “cowboys” when you think Texas, but there are also a few large urban cities including Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. Book a room at a Fredericksburg Texas bed and breakfast, a San Antonio b&b or delve into the local music scene by booking an Austin inn.
