Introduction
This home was built in 1905 by the Shelton's, who were man and wife and both doctors. The Innkeepers purchased the home in 2000 and began a labor of love to turn this beautiful home into Highway 77 Bed & Breakfast.
Our home site on 3/4 acre of land with a three-car garage apartment, a large oak tree complete with swing, and several pecan trees. The innkeepers are both retired from the military and health care fields and are anxious to serve you with their hospitality.
Throught the home on display are lovely antiques, a thirty five year collection of Glassware, Art Glass, Carnival Glass, Depression Glassware and Porcelians. The cabinetry in the home boasts Cut Crystal. A
collection of over 100 Glass Paperweights, dating back to the 1800's is also to be admired.
Highway 77 Bed & Breakfast has a total of twenty five rooms including six bedrooms, four bathrooms, two dining rooms, a huge kitchen, living room and small dining room. All meals are family style. We select the menu and have pre-determined times for meals. There is great food and plenty to be had. A pre-arranged menu can be planned when reservations are made.
Refugio, named after "The Lady of Refuge", is located halfway from Victoria and Corpus Christi on the Gulf of Mexico. Refugio is on the South Texas Historical Trail and on the Southern Birding and Butterfly Trails of South Texas. There are several historical cities located within minutes of Highway 77 Bed & Breakfast.
Highway 77 Bed & Breakfast is located close to the wetlands, fishing, hunting, and canoeing. The famous Fennessey Ranch, offering hunting, boating, wildflower tours, and photo shoots regularly, is also located nearby. The ranch is part of the legendary 750,000-acre Texas land empire that has remained in the same family for 171 years.
