Das Garten Haus is a traditional style Texas bed and breakfast, with on-site owners, Kevin and Lynn MacWithey operating it. We have three private suites with all the comforts of home, with none of the responsibilities. Each suite has a private bath and private entrance. Enjoy a delicious breakfast each morning.

Das Garten Haus - Fredericksburg, Texas

Das Garten Haus was built by a retired rancher in the late 1940's as a private home. When Lynn and Kevin MacWithey moved to Fredericksburg in 1994 with the intention of operating a B&B, they found this beautiful home with three private suites already part of the original construction, and knew it would be a perfect home for them. With minimal changes, they were able to open their inn in the fall of 1994.

Das Garten Haus has three lovely guests suites, all with private entrances and baths, as well as personal kitchenettes and sitting areas. Each suite opens onto the New Orleans style courtyard, created by Kevin, horticulturist and innkeeper. Guests are free to enjoy the lovely gardens, changing landscapes, and seasonal purple martins and other birds drawn to the yard.

Enjoy A Delicious Breakfast Each Morning Unique to Fredericksburg, Das Garten Haus is a true, traditional Bed and Breakfast only 1/2 mile from downtown. Lynn and Kevin live on site in the main residence and operate the inn. Lynn serves a full breakfast every morning in the dining room, utilizing fresh herbs and vegetables from their garden. Served on silver and china, and accompanied by their specially blended coffee, you simply cannot afford to miss starting your day with her wonderful specialties. These are some examples of the breakfasts that are served:
  • Fresh fruit cup with Gran Marnier sauce, pumpkin-date bread, baked apple pancake, Parmesan Potato Gallette, Opa's Smoked Country Sausage
  • Baked pears with cream, fresh garden vegetable frittata, baked ham, pan-fried garlic new potatoes
  • Praline French toast, Greek eggs with basil, tomatoes and feta cheese, crispy bacon
