Designated as a National Historic Landmark, The East End Historical District is a fascinating place to visit. Embrace a bit of Texas' past by experiencing it overnight in The Garden Inn. The Garden Inn is, architecturally, one of the most singular in the East End Historical District (according to Galveston Architecture Guidebook, 1996). The 1887 H.S. Mather home was originally identified as a High Victorian Chalet. Now, it is an elegant bed and breakfast inn.

Guest Rooms/Rates

The Rose Room is a spacious room with queen size bed, beautiful Rococo armoire, sitting area with fainting couch, dressing table, private bath with shower, and private balcony. Exit through the 9-foot tall walk through window out onto the private balcony overlooking part of the gardens, and listen to the birds sing as you enjoy the sunrise with your morning coffee or juice. In the evening you can sit and enjoy the gulf breezes and hear the gentle sounds of the waves. The Rose Room

The Oleander Room The Oleander Room is our largest room with king size bed, antique wardrobe and wash stand, and private bath with tub/shower. Enjoy your morning coffee sitting at the east side bay window on the antique sofa with the warmth of the morning sun. The non-functional coal fireplace has a faux marble finish to compliment the soft colors of this room. You can get up and watch the sun rise or don't get up until you smell the coffee, it's up to you.

The Magnolia Suite was created from two guest rooms. The suite is perfect for two guests, but can accommodate up to four guests, perfect for friends or family members to share. The bedroom features a queen size sleigh bed, antique marble top tobacco stand used for a bed side table, and antique wardrobe and multi-mirrored dressing table. The non-functional coal fireplace completes the cozy atmosphere. This is a northeast corner room, perfect for listening for horse drawn carriages. The Sitting Room contains a full size sofa sleeper, antique tiled wash stand and is the only guest room with a TV. This northwest corner room provides the best view of the pool area and the spectacular sunsets over the historical district. The bathroom located between the two rooms features an antique claw foot tub with shower. A secured entrance to the suite ensures your privacy. The Magnolia Suite

Rates/Guest Information
  • Rates: $100 - $300
  • All rates are subject to a 15% hotel tax.
  • We accept major credit cards (VISA, MC, American Express and Discover), cash, and Travelers checks.
  • Reservations will be made with credit card.
  • Five day cancellation notice required. Less than five day notice will result in a charge equal to one night's stay unless we are able to rent the room to someone else. Failure to notify host at all results in full room fee charge for entire reserved stay. Additional cancellation notice may be required for special events and holidays.
  • Check In: 4-6 p.m., unless special arrangements are made.
  • Check Out: 11 a.m.
  • Minimum stay of two nights sometimes required during special event weekends and certain holidays.
  • Children 12 or over welcome.
  • No smoking except outside in designated areas.
  • No pets.
  • Gift certificates available.
  • Off street parking is provided.
