~ Now Available Free Wireless Access ~
The pool will be open from April until November. Earlier and later, weather permitting.
Your room will be furnished in antiques, but with comfortable beds and the modern conveniences you would expect to find in a first-class hotel, including cable TV, wireless Internet, mini-refrigerators, microwaves, coffee pots, hair dryers and robes. Complimentary beverages and ice are in your refrigerator when you arrive and you will probably want to try our chocolates and sherry before you go to sleep at night.
You may want to sit on the inn's front veranda in a rocking chair or porch swing with a good book and watch the horse drawn trolley go by carrying tourists who wish they were staying the same place as you. Don't forget about the hot tub in the rear garden area during the winter months. It is the perfect place to soak your tired muscles and aching feet after a busy day sightseeing.
Owners and Innkeepers: Bennie and Sue Blansett bought the Brackenridge House Bed and Breakfast in April 1995.
Bennie is a retired Air Force Colonel and Sue, his wife, left her job as a university administrator when they launched their second career as innkeepers. They are native Texans who chose to retire in San Antonio after living all over the United States and in Guam, the Philippines and Germany. Bennie and Sue were stationed in San Antonio in 1968 at Kelly AFB when the HemisFair brought new life to the RiverWalk. They watched the Palacio Del Rio being built, room by room and remember San Antonio when Loop 13 was the way to go around downtown and when Casa Rio was the only restaurant on the RiverWalk.
Bennie retired from the Air Force at Randolph AFB in 1991 and spent 4 years at Texas State University in San Marcos as commander of AFROTC before being stationed at Randolph. They are both well versed on places to go and things to do in San Antonio and the Hill Country.
The next morning you will wake up smelling coffee and fresh pastry. As you go up the staircase you will be greeted by soft music from the parlor where you can drink coffee, enjoy a pre-breakfast snack, read the newspaper or converse with other guests. If the weather allows you may want to step out on the second floor veranda. In the formal dining room we set the table with crystal and china and serve a three-course, gourmet breakfast, family style at 9 a.m. Breakfast begins with a fruit selection and hot bread, proceeds to a main course and then finishes with dessert, all accompanied by juice and your beverage of choice.
Are you a sleepy head or an early riser? You can always have a later breakfast or we can leave a Continental breakfast in your room if you want to hit the tourist attractions early. With prior notice, we can accommodate just about anything you can think of.
As the first bed and breakfast in San Antonio’s historic King William district, the Brackenridge House Bed and Breakfast has been pampering its guests for 20 years. We have been lucky enough to have been doing the pampering for the last 12 years. Our goal is for you, our guests, to feel as if you are honored visitors in a favorite relative’s house.
Call and give us a chance to make you feel like the special person you are.
Ode to the Brackenridge House
I think that I shall never see
A house as lovely as this B&B.
With attention to details and elegant touches
The guest feels like a General, a duke or a duchess.
I slept on a mattress that was just divine
With a gorgeous quilt. I wish it were mine.
Awoke feeling good, well rested, and fresher.
Then had a shower with great water pressure.
Sweet soap, soft towels, all I could desire
Of the Brackenridge House, I will surely never tire.
Just when I thought it's too good to be true
Breakfast was served by Bennie and Sue.
I've never had a breakfast that had so much style.
This breakfast I'll remember for a long, long while.
Everything fresh - mmm - nothing but yummy.
If I ate this everyday, I'd have a big tummy.
The Brackenridge House is a sure trendsetter.
Every time I come the place looks even better.
I wonder how you do the magic you do.
Thank you, thank you, Bennie and Sue.

10 Reasons To Stay At The Brackenridge House
It's in an historic district, which you probably don't live in or even want to live in because it's too much work keeping up an old house, but it's fun to visit.
You can walk or take the trolley to the Riverwalk. You don't have to take your car and pay for parking and remember where you parked your car when you get ready to go back to your hotel and you don't have to drive to your hotel when you've had too much to drink.
They have good beds and lots of antiques. You're going to feel right at home.
They have a hot tub, which feels great after a long day on the Riverwalk or Fiesta Texas or any of the other great things to do in San Antonio.
Great ratings from Historic Accommodations of Texas, AAA and Mobil.
Breakfast is a real banquet. You can pig out on breakfast and skip lunch or have a late lunch and skip dinner. You get to meet the other guests at breakfast too.
All the rooms have in-room private baths, coffee makers, cable TV, mini-refrigerators, telephones and there are robes in the rooms.
There's lots of other stuff close by.
Bennie and Sue are real native Texans. They can remember when I-35 between San Antonio and Dallas was a two lane highway. They live in the place and do most of the work.
It's cheaper than all those big hotels on the Riverwalk and you don't have to pay for parking.
