  • Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park - 3 miles south on Texas Highway 16 - 830-997-4202 - The park features wooded picnic and recreation areas with pavilions, playgrounds, tennis courts, swimming pool and fishing.

  • Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course - 3 miles south on Texas Highway 16 -800-950-8147 - Beautiful championship course, open seven days a week.
  • LBJ State and National Historical Parks - 16 miles east on Highway 290 - 830-644-2252 - Park complex includes visitor center, historic areas, tours, exhibits and hiking rails.

  • LBJ Ranch Bus Tour - 16 miles east on Highway 290 - 830-868-7128 x 231 (Reservations) - Visit the Texas White House, LBJ Birthplace, cemetery and ranch.

  • Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm - LBJ State Park - 830-644-2252 - Visit a living history farmstead of the pioneers and see how a family of a century ago lived - learn about sausage making, sheep shearing, canning, and much more!

  • Enchanted Rock State Natural Area o 18 miles north on RR 965 - 915-247-3903 - Home to the second largest granite outcropping in the United States, provides hiking, rock climbing, rappelling, camping and picnicking.

  • Pioneer Museum Complex - 309 West Main Street - 830-997-2835 - See early examples of German structures and artifacts, open seven days a week.

  • Vereins Kirche Museum - Center of Marktplatz, downtown Main Street - 830-997-2835 - This unique building is a well-known landmark of the City of Fredericksburg

  • Fort Martin Scott - 1606 East Main Street - 830-997-9895 - Open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 AM - 5 PM, this frontier Army post was one of Texas' first forts and saw active duty from 1848 - 1853.

  • Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area (Bat Tunnel) - 12 miles east on the Old San Antonio Highway - 830-644-2478 - Open nightly June through October. View a colony of Mexican free-tail bats as they fly out for their nightly hunt. Special programs on Tuesday and Saturday.

  • Cross Mountain - On a small peak north of town off FM965, settlers found the remnants of a wooden cross believed to have been left there by Spanish missionaries. Residents have kept crosses on the mountain overlooking Fredericksburg since 1849 beginning with John Christian Durst. Cross Mountain which stands 1,951 feet above sea level and offers a panoramic view of town.
