Tip #172 - Forget the Guidebook
Sure, a guidebook is a great reference for all the big name attractions, restaurants and places to see, but what if you want a trip that explores what the locals know? Ask your innkeeper! Chances are that the innkeeper has lived in the city for several years and has the best tips for what to see and do on your trip that only a local will know, along with tips and tricks on the best way to get around. Guidebooks often focus on big cities and only add a short excerpt about smaller cities, so your innkeeper can be your best friend when you are looking for local attractions in small towns.
