Tip #61 - Health Watch: Stay Active While Traveling

Regardless of age, being inactive during travel can be unhealthy. Whether you're flying or driving to your destination, you don't want to risk developing a deep vein thrombosis or DVT. This is a blood clot that occurs when blood pools in your legs after a lack of movement. It can happen to anyone and it will land you in the emergency room. Avoid this with an easy tip; while driving, stop and walk around every hour. If you're on a plane, get up and stretch your legs to keep the blood moving. Consider wearing compression stockings, which increase blood flow. Stay hydrated, and keep moving!
