Tip #34 - Extra Baggage Can Mean Extra Fees

Need another reason to pack light? If you're traveling by plane, bringing extra stuff means shelling out extra money--most airlines now charge for every checked bag and not only that, they charge an even higher fee for the second bag (ex: $25 for the first bag, $35 for the second). These fees are not part of your ticket and must be paid when you check in. Also, be sure to check your airline's website before you go to the airport to get the most updated information regarding baggage fees, they have been consistently increasing. Two airlines who still allow free checked bags: Southwest and JetBlue.
