Introduction
Rich in history, The Timothy Demonbreun House is a tribute to the "First Citizen" of Nashville, Tennessee, Timothy Demonbreun, who was a French fur trader. In 1756 he canoed down the Cumberland River from Quebec, Canada, and established a trading post, calling it "French Lick". He became known at that time as Nashville's first white settler. The historic house was named in 2000 to honor Timothy by his great-great-great-great grandson, Richard A. Demonbreun. Today Richard is the owner of the house and shares his lovely home with guests.
The Timothy Demonbreun House is now the newest and most elegant site for special events including:
The residence was purchased by Richard Demonbreun in 1994 at which time a 1.5 million dollar renovation project was undertaken. The house was then the recipient of the Metropolitan Historic Zoning Commission's "2000 Architectural Preservation Award" in recognition of the substantial rehabilitation effort. The residence has been meticulously restored in every detail. This project was undertaken with the commitment to fully and completely revitalize the home from the inside out. Hundreds of original elements have been returned to their initial splendor and a new addition added that has greatly enhanced this grand, old mansion.
After spending five years restoring the home, Richard now shares it with others after having been granted permission to operate as a Historic Home Event venue and Historic Bed and Breakfast.
Located just one mile south of Downtown Nashville and Music Row, The Timothy Demonbreun House is unquestionably Nashville's premiere Bed and Breakfast. Originally built in 1906, this twenty-two room mansion has three private guest rooms and was completely renovated in 1998-2000. It was awarded the "2000 Metropolitan Historic Zoning Commission's Architectural Preservation Award" designating it as one of Nashville's most beautiful historic residences.
Wireless Internet access is available in the privacy of each guest room with a Comcast (T1) connection available for guest use. The private swimming pool is 14-feet deep, has a diving board, slide and is heated in early spring through fall to enhance your swimming enjoyment. We close the pool in mid-November through late March for the winter. Our in-ground heated spa seats ten adults and is open year-round. It is the perfect place to spend a few minutes at the end of a busy day.
