Suite No. 6: The Moffat Room

Named for John Moffat who founded Monteagle & opened the Monteagle Health Resort in 1875. This quiet corner room allows guests to spend quality time together sitting in the pair of chairs, sipping a favorite beverage as they catch up with the things they have been to busy to discuss as they view Morton Memorial Church across the west lawn and vegetable gardens. Or you could step outside onto the viewing balcony which overlooks the patio below and enjoy the night sky. Later, the luxurious linens on the queen bed and ceiling fan beckon you to a peaceful night’s sleep you will long remember. The Italian art may influence your dreams and take you on a fantastic journey before your “mountain gourmet” breakfast in the morning.

The Laurel Trail Room Suite No. 9: The Laurel Trail Room

Named for the local Laurel Trail which is a wonderful respite in the forest of mountain laurel. This SE corner room is full of romance with angels & romantic prints and features a wonderful king bed with a cupid iron head & foot boards for your sleeping comfort on the luxurious linens. Spend some time in the pair of reclining wing back chairs just visiting, reading or relaxing. The antique English armoire adds warmth as well as function to this bright & sunny room. Take a leisurely moment to enjoy the viewing balcony overlooking the spectacular garden with its gazebo or just relax in bed and watch the ceiling fan as it mesmerizes you to sleep.

Suite No. 10: The Jump Off Room

Named for the area south of Sewanee where the Harmons made their home in 1996 when they moved to the area. The name has numerous supposed origins, each credible in its own way. This bright & airy SW corner room is a guest’s favorite with two viewing balconies, one overlooking the patio and the other overlooking the spectacular garden & gazebo. The queen bed with its iron headboard draws you in with its crisp white linens and feather pillows for one of the best night’s sleep you have had in years. You may want to turn the ceiling fan on to reminisce about a time when they lulled you to sleep. The two reclining wingback chairs provide the perfect place to relax and dream as you observe the Italian artworks. The bathroom has its own window overlooking the garden which brightens it in a refreshing way.

The Roark’s Cove Room Suite No. 14: The Roark’s Cove Room

Named for the spectacular cove on the north side of the domain of The University of the South and a spectacular driving or hiking adventure. This first floor room is completely handicap accessible with all of the modern conveniences you expect. The queen sleigh bed and its 600 thread count linens await you and assure a wonderful night’s sleep. Relax in the two reclining wingback chairs and admire the antique French architectural prints the Harmon’s purchased in Paris nearly 20 years ago. You have your own private entrance onto the patio for a late night or early morning venture. Your bathrobes are in the English antique armoire if you desire some extra comfort.

Suite No. 1: The Foster Falls Room - Named for the beautiful 160 foot waterfall at the East end of the Fiery Gizzard trail in the nearby South Cumberland Recreation Area. This room provides a wonderful level of comfort with two upholstered chairs for overdue conversations and a cherry sleigh queen bed calling to you with its crisp linens & sumptuous comfort. The beautiful Italian art and original etchings of the Inn & the Harmon family home in Montgomery make you feel at home immediately. The oversized bathroom is a cheerful yellow with Italian architectural prints. The steel Kohler tub is waiting for your relaxing soak with the provided Natura bath crystals. The shower will massage your stress away and prepare you for a wonderful day.

Suite No. 2: The Bridal Veil Falls Room - Named for the beautiful nearby Bridal Veil Water Falls, our largest room is a favorite for honeymoon & anniversary couples as well as anyone wanting the maximum level of comfort & space. You may relax on the inviting loveseat, read a book in the wingback chair or use the large rattan desk for catching up on some overdue correspondence. The large 4 poster mahogany king bed beckons to you with its high thread count white linens & soft pillows that help you forget about the world you left behind. Original Italian oil paintings enliven the bedroom & bathroom. The hardwood floors are accented with beautiful oriental rugs. Plan to relax and soak in the steel Kohler tub or enjoy an invigorating shower to prepare you for the fun that awaits you.

Suite No. 3: The Morgan’s Steep Room - Named for the beautiful overlook on the University of the South campus which provides an expansive view of the serene valley to the north of the plateau. This spacious room in the original Francis home has two wonderful & comfortable cherry queen sleigh beds to accommodate up to four guests for a get-a-way. Their fresh, crisp linens will make you want to go to bed early and sleep in. The wingback recliner is the perfect spot to catch up on that reading you have promised yourself while the antique English bedside tables add charm & character to the room. The desk in the cubbyhole is a cozy location to write that note to that someone special. Family American art & needlepoint add special accents to this oversized room. You will enjoy the feel of the oriental rugs under your feet as you traverse the hardwood floors.

Suite No. 4: The Shake Rag Holler Room - Named for the beautiful trail between Saint Andrews-Sewanee School & The University of the South which is a popular portion of Sewanee’s Perimeter Trail. The cherry queen sleigh bed & the antique pine twin bed are a popular combination for an accompanying third party or a couple who prefers two beds. The high thread count sheets will help convince you that this is like a wonderful home-away-from-home with out the “to do” list. The quiet room overlooks the beautiful front lawn and its unique flower fountain. You will be enthralled with the original family art, cross-stitches and Italian art throughout the room & bath.

Suite No. 5: The Piney Point Room - Named for the beautiful & secluded vista near Shake Rag Holler & Saint-Andrews School. Piney Point has a very special place in the hearts of many SAS students & Alumni. This room is also a favorite with SAS alumni with its luxurious queen bed & iron headboard and twin bed with iron head and footboard. This corner room has a view of the front lawn and flower gardens as well as a view of the gorgeous stone Morton Memorial Church across the west lawn. The comfortable twin sleeper sofa comes in handy for families traveling to the mountain. The Italian art adds to the Tuscan feel throughout the Inn.

Suite No. 7: The Fiery Gizzard Room - Named for the famed 15 mile trail in the nearby South Cumberland Recreation Area. This trail is recognized as the most diverse & beautiful in Tennessee with its terrain, vertical variations & spectacular overlooks. This room enjoys the best view of the patio & park like property beyond from the viewing balcony. The luxurious cherry queen sleigh bed provides a special respite from the real world as you succumb to the luxurious 600 thread count sheets and fall asleep sooner than you planned. Suite No. 8: The Grundy Lakes Room - Named for the Grundy Lakes State Park which is famous for its mines, prison labor, revolts & Lone Rock coke ovens. The park is on the National Historic Registry, a very special place to visit & only 10 minutes from the Inn. The rich, cherry sleigh queen bed provides an escape with comfortable linens and feather pillows to assure that wonderful nights sleep. Use the antique American desk to write a note to someone special and tell them your special thoughts. This crevice has been a pathway from the plateau into the rugged & beautiful gulf for hundreds of years. The luxurious linens assure a wonderful night’s sleep while the comfortable loveseat provides you with the perfect place to curl up with your favorite book or someone special.
