New book available on vision loss:
The owner Priscilla Rogers had just completed a book with co-author
Alberta Orr entitled Aging and Vision Loss, a Handbook for Families ($19.95) available through
American Foundation for the Blind Press (www.afb.org). The book is a
how-to book for families to understand what to do in the event that
someone in their family is diagnosed with vision loss as a result of an
eye condition such as macular degeneration or diabetes.
Dr. Rogers works with the American Foundation for the Blind, a non profit
organization dedicated to leveling the playing field for persons who blind
or have vision loss.
Historic marker commemorates Home Place history:
Williams Home Place: Three-tenths of a mile north at 132 Church Lane, Hugh G. Williams and
Carrie Moore Williams, descendants of Hugh G. Moore, a founder of Mooresburg, resided here
in the late 1800's. The Williams owned the Mooresburg Springs Hotel, a well-known mineral
spring resort. Guests from many states visited very summer to drink the mineral water, eat
home-style cooking, and enjoy dancing and playing horseshoes. The Home Place is located on
Hugh Moore's original land holdings.
Location: Corner of Hwy 11 W and Slate Hill Road in Mooresburg, TN.
