History of Evins Mill
The history of Evins Mill dates back to 1824, when a Tennessee Land Grant recorded the property as "Lockhart's Mill." There have been a number of gristmills on the property since that time, including Lawrence's Mill and Webb's Mill. Perhaps the most well-known owner of the property was the politically prominent Evins family.
In 1939, entrepreneur and Tennessee politician Edgar Evins built a spectacular lodge and grist mill along the banks of Middle Tennessee's Fall Creek. Later to become the estate of his son and U.S. Congressman Joe L. Evins, Evins Mill is today an expansive country inn.
