Elizabethton is a city in Carter County, northeastern Tennessee. Make an Elizabethton bed and breakfast your getaway spot for a bit of peace and quiet. The city has a long history being one of the first independent settlements on American soil in 1772. Pack a picnic lunch for the whole family and take a trip to the Doe River Covered Bridge, a white clapboard bridge from 1882. Spend the whole afternoon enjoying activities in the Doe River and the local park. For some more adventure, check out the Watauga Kayak Tours and Outfitters. You can plan a whitewater-rafting trip for the whole family or a kayaking adventure with friends. Another great spot for a picnic is the Wilbur Dam, complete with fishing and canoeing. Restaurant options include Applebee’s, Captain D’s Seafood Restaurants and Amigo Mexican Restaurant. Fill your belly and then return to your Elizabethton inn or B&B to get a good night sleep.
