Our home was built on a farmstead in 1918. We moved it onto our lake property late in 1997, and completely renovated the house in the following months. It is a four story home, with three bedrooms dedicated to our guests. The view from these rooms is delightful.

The Farmhouse at "Pelican Pass" is nestled on the east shore of beautiful Lake Norden,
in the heart of Eastern South Dakota’s lake region paradise.

Lake Norden - Deer at Farmhouse at Pelican Pass Guest accommodations include one bedroom with a private bath, and two bedrooms that have a shared bath. Guest rates range from $70 - $100 per night.

Nature:

Abundant wildlife, including geese, ducks, pheasants, deer, pelicans, egrets, and many other species of birds.
Our nature trail along the east side of Lake Norden affords opportunity to observe all of the wildlife of the area.

Area attractions include:
  • The South Dakota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame, in Lake Norden.
  • The Lake Region Golf Course, located near Lake Poinsett.
  • The Redlin Center, in Watertown, where you will find most of wildlife artist Terry Redlin’s original paintings.
  • The Tanaka Buffalo ranch, on hiway 81, six miles east of Lake Norden.
  • Outstanding walleye fishing in area lakes.
  • Don Christman Toy Museum in Lake Norden.
Yearly Events:
  • January - Governor's Snowmobile Race at Lake Poinsett.
  • March, St. Uros Day parade in Lake Norden.
  • June - Crystal Springs Rodeo in Clear Lake
  • June/July-Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant in DeSmet.
  • July 4th celebration in Lake Norden, including triathalon, amateur baseball, and an elaborate fireworks display.
  • Snowmobiling on the South Dakota Snowmobile trail that runs right by our property.
  • Ice fishing in area lakes in the winter.

The Farmhouse at Pelican Pass is located just three miles west of Highway 81
on Highway 28 or one mile east of Lake Norden.
