We are a working family farm, raise corn, soybeans, winter wheat & alfalfa, a few stock cows, some brood mares, quarter horses & arabians and a purebred blue heeler. Also feed some cattle, do the breeding and gestating of 100+ sows for some neighbors and feed the dry cows for dairy next door.

History

Since this was his grandparents homestead, Billy has lived here all his life, Ila came with our marriage in 1957, followed by son Randy in '58 and daughter Lori in '62.

This B&B thing has been rather a joke since 1971, when we adopted a brother (Toby) and sister (Jamie) ages 11 and 10, Randy was 13 and Lori was 9. We finished a room upstairs so that each had their own bedroom and Billy asked, "What are we going to do with this 'hotel' when the kids are gone?" Those rooms are named after the child who grew up in it.

Lori went off to college in the fall of 80, in the spring of 82 we applied for an exchange student from Finland and over the next 11 years 6 students from Finland, Germany, Iceland and Mexico came to live with us for 10 months each. During the winter of 94 when the last student was here we made a bathroom in the upstairs hallway. They were all great young people and as dear to us as family, 2 of the girls from Germany have returned 8 times, we have been to meet all the families.

Deciding to quit the exchange program with a good record, the 'hotel' is now empty, so on with a new ADVENTURE. When we got a call from some hunters in Tennessee about pheasant hunting, our son, Randy, who farms with us said, "Well I think I could be a hunting guide." We have been members of Pheasant Country Ltd. for several years; setting aside food plots and doing other farming practices to increase pheasant habitat and population, so decided to give it a try.

The next year I had a call from a horse club in Minnesota wondering if we had facilities to 'overnight' horses? So this venture is branching out and gets more interesting all the time. We are common country folk, our facilities are not fancy, we try to accommodate whatever is necessary to make this a fun, memorable, experience for you, now going into the 9th season.
