Introduction
Palmer Ranch House is a historical guest house, built in 1910 by homesteaders. The Coopers bought it in the early 1930`s. Gary Palmer leased it from them in the 1980`s, then purchased it in 2000. Gary is about 5 miles from where he grew up on his parent's ranch. His brother now owns it.
Gary and Bambi have restored some parts of the guest house, and have kept much of the house in its original state. The house is fully furnished, some in antiques, as well as painted items by Bambi. We also have camper hook ups.
Great for Hunters, and vacationers passing through.
We will create a guest house package that meets your needs.
There is a really neat screened-in front porch, and it overlooks the prairie and the ranch. The Deep Creek runs by the house. So, guests will be staying in a real homestead house on the prairie. This is a modest house that the homesteaders (Honyockers) built back then. The wild turkeys and deer are frequent visitors to the yard.
We have 5200 acres that the guest house is on. We are a working cattle ranch. The main ranch house is about 1/4 mile away. The location is 13 miles west of Faith (which hosts an airport with a 4,200 ft. long runway), 100 miles from the Black Hills, Deadwood, Sturgis, and Mt Rushmore. The Badlands and Devils Tower are within 150 miles.
Price includes breakfast - cooked and brought down to the guest house, or guests can join Innkeepers at the main house. We suggest you plan your supper on the night you arrive, as you are out in the country and there are no fast food places. Innkeeper will cook meals for you with advance notice, at an additional cost. Also, we will provide sack lunches. Children 1/2 price.

We invite you to join us on a mini-cattle drive with your own horse. We have so many requests to join us moving cattle but not everyone has a whole week for a full blown cattle drive. So we are offering shorter one or two day mini cattle drives. These take place on the ranch, or where we are summering cattle. They involve rounding up and moving the cattle herd from one summer pasture to a new pasture. These pastures are several miles apart, so you still get plenty of riding done.
The mini-cattle drive is not a grueling 4 day non-stop full fledged ride back to the ranch' by night fall type of adventure, but for more experienced riders. We can stop and stretch our legs every so often. We pack lunches. This is by special arrangement and reservation. If you have dreamed of trying your hand at 'cowboying'this would be a great introduction. $200 per horse and rider/per day. Minimum of 3 days.
