| Mountains To Prairies Bed & Breakfast is accommodatingly located in Hill City - otherwise known as the Heart of the Hills - right in the central Black Hills. We are near South Dakota's great attractions including Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mountain Carving, Custer State Park, mountain lakes and truly spectacular scenic drives. For the not so faint at heart, there are awe-inspiring climbing and trekking opportunities nearby, which beckon via massive granite vistas and wilderness trails. If inclined to more leisurely pastimes, museums, gold mine or cave tours and a marvelous array of other interesting activities are close at hand. Picking wild berries can be enjoyed many summer days while out walking in fresh air naturally scented with pine. |

Three distinctive suites are available to make guests of Mountains To Prairies B&B feel welcome. The log-accented suite, Bluma Madle, features a front sitting area which includes a desk and also has a log loft Bear Den for sleepy kid campers; while the master room has other welcoming amenities, such as airjet bathtub in the private full bath, comfortable seating and refrigerator. The cabin-style suite, Chessie Lee's Peas, is relaxingly wrapped in ponderosa pine, and includes on the main level a personal entrance, an extra vanity outside the private full bath, refrigerator-microwave kitchenette, warming bay view pellet stove, table and chairs, loveseat and a cozy Nook with a twin bed of southern cypress, handy for an extra sleepyhead; while on the second level is the Tree House Loft, an optional space with a full-size pillowtop bed and half bath, providing potential lodging for five in this suite. The third, most recent pine-clad addition for guests is Prairie Homestead, which also has a personal entrance and a twin-bed Nook (with a ‘hayloft’), a deck, table and chairs, loveseat, refrigerator, microwave, private full bath with flower-embossed copper sink, and other intriguing features reminiscent of a prairie homestead. All three suites have antique/unique furnishings, queen pillowtop beds, satellite hd tv/dvd/vcr, wireless internet, cove heat and AC, plus ceiling fans. |

Available for the pleasure of all guests is a wraparound sitting porch. Our small gourmet Coffee Shop serves hot and cold specialty espresso drinks, as well as fine organic teas. Our Antiques Shop offers many hard-to-find items, with attention given to quality. The novelties and souvenirs of days-gone-by may be seen in a new light as unique present-day gifts and mementoes, treasures to take home to special friends and family, or maybe just for you. We are within easy walking distance of everything Hill City has to offer, just 1-1/2 blocks to historic downtown, presenting delicious dining, fine art and delightful shops. Equally close are the popular George S. Mickelson Trail (rails to trails designated for hiking, running, biking) and the 1880 Train, which travels along the path of fascinating local history, through rugged and beautiful scenery. |
