Introduction

At The Lamp Post Inn, our home is your home when you stay with us. The house was built in 1899 by Joel W. Goff, a professor at the college. It became a bed and breakfast in 2005.

This wonderful home charms guests with its quarter-sawn oak fireplace in the common area, the angular rooms, open staircase, and curved walls. One cannot help but feel at home here.

Madison is nestled between two popular lakes and home to historical Prairie Village.
Madison is also the home of Dakota State University.

Dining Room Guests can enjoy a full country-style breakfast every morning served in the dining room which shows off beautiful antiques from by-gone days. Gourmet coffee is served with every meal. Guests can enjoy homemade cookies or country muffins with their coffee.

Madison is located between two beautiful lakes, along with two state parks, that provide a beautiful backdrop for an evening walk. Enjoy the downtown area with its unique shops and fine eating establishments, or take a short drive out around the lakes and sample some of the resorts and restaurants located just outside of town. Relax on the large wrap around porch overlooking the Dakota State University campus.
