We are located in the Heart of the Hills close to Mt. Rushmore, Sheridan Lake, and numerous area attractions.  We are just 36 miles from Historic Deadwood with casino gambling and 47 miles from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Double Diamond Ranch Bed and Breakfast - Hill City, South Dakota The Double Diamond Ranch is located in the Central Black Hills just 4 miles north of Hill City. We are close to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and the numerous area attractions. Our accommodations are very deluxe with the views being spectacular and the wildlife abundant. The horses and new colts graze in the pasture and love to be petted and handled by our guests.

Bighorn sheep, turkey, ducks, eagles, and deer are abundant on our property. Our guest quarters overlook a lush green meadow and Spring Creek. You'll see the new colts and their mothers grazing in the pasture and Spring Creek just waiting for you to try your luck at catching a trout or two.

Relax By The Fire Pit and Enjoy The Beautiful Western Skies Biking: Mickelson Trail - With its gentle slopes and easy access, people of all ages and abilities enjoy the beauty of the Mickelson Trail in the Black Hills. The trail passes through many different types of terrain, from a prairie setting, past granite mountain views, to heavily timbered forest and through picturesque valley bottoms. The Mickelson Trail Trek is an annual event that runs the entire length of the trail. Trail passes are required.

Bird Watching: A birder's guide to the George S. Mickelson Trail is available. This is to enhance the trail experience. Primarily it is intended for use by the casual or novice birder, although the advanced birder may also find it useful. Newcomers to the Black Hills will be surprised at the diversity and density of birds along the trail. The guide will help you identify the birds as well as a checkoff list for birds sighted, while you are enjoying the beautiful Black Hills.

Hiking: Sky-piercing granite peaks and forested mountains dominate the skyline Black Hills. America's oldest mountains rose above the surrounding flatlands 60 million years ago, about the time the dinosaurs disappeared, and even after eons of erosion their granite peaks still soar as high as 7,242 feet to the dizzying heights of Harney Peak. The Lakota Sioux named the area Paha Sapa or Black Hills because a thick forest of pine and spruce trees cover the slopes making them appear black from a distance. Black Hills National Forest stretches for 1.2 million acres, offering outdoor adventure like hiking and biking amidst stunning scenery. Find grassy mountain meadows, towering granite peaks, deep canyons, cascading trout streams and clear, clean lakes.

Horse Rides: Trail rides, horse camps, and the beautiful Black Hills. Hill City is in the center of it all. Country western at its best, participate in Supper Show and Western Entertainment. Or bring your own horse and ride right here on our beautiful property. Separate corrals are set up for guests horses.

Canoeing, boating & swimming: There are eleven reservoirs in the Forest that offer a variety of water activities. Deerfield, Horsethief, and Bismarck Lakes allow small motor (trolling) boats. Pactola and Sheridan are popular for waterskiing. Marinas at Pactola & Sheridan Lane offer slip and boat rentals, launch sites, food service, fishing supplies and licenses and boating supplies. Beaches: Pactotal, Sheridan, Sylvan and Roubaix Lakes.

Caving: Of all the caves in the United States, none contain the vast variety of rare formations found in Black Hills caves. These caves display more boxwork than any other in the world. They also form some of the largest concentrations of passageways in the world. Eight Black Hills caves are open to the public. Hunting: South Dakota is a hunting paradise. Rain, snow or sunshine, hunting is available year-round in South Dakota. From big game to some of the best pheasant hunting in the world, hunters flock to South Dakota to bag their limit. Whether it is the Merriam Turkey, Elk, Deer, Mountain Goats, and Mountain Lions. The wildlife is abundant.

Driving the Norbeck Scenic Byways: A masterpiece of art & engineering, the Norbeck Scenic Byway preserves the natural beauty of the hills while making special areas accessible to many visitors. A remarkable corkscrew spiral road connects the tunnels to lift the traveler from one level to another without adding miles of road. Now know as the Pigtail Bridges this road leads to Mt. Rushmroe from the south. The byway is 66 miles long. As you drive toward the center of the hill, the rocks get older. They are some of the oldest in North American.

Fishing: South Dakota is a fishing paradise. Rain, snow or sunshine, fishing is available year-round in South Dakota. The Black Hills has quality stream and lake fishing locations. Rainbow, Brown and Brook trout and other species make their home in and around Hill City's city limits. Annual, Annual Family, One Day and Three Day fishing licenses are available in town. Pan for Gold: Ever since when Custer's troops discovered gold in the Black Hill, prospectors have been migrated into the hills. There is gold still in the Black Hills and prospectors manning a sloose.
