The original Pleasant Lane Acre two room dwelling was built in the early 1800s as slave quarters and was owned by the Timmerman Family. Mr. Felix Timmerman's father gave him this house as a wedding present when he married in September 1892. This union produced ten children and it was very evident during restoration of the house that they added onto it as their family grew, resulting in the present structure. Felix Timmerman was a cattle owner and a cotton farmer. He was also the Post Master for what was then Pleasant Lane, South Carolina, which can still be found on a South Carolina map today. The original property had over five thousand acres and much of the land surrounding the home place is still owned by the Timmerman family. The Rupert's found Pleasant Lane Acres in March of 1987, during the height of peach season in Historic Edgefield County and fell in love with the home and the area. They spent the first year racing to Pleasant Lane Acres every weekend as their getaway nest, but they were quick to discover during the winter of 1988, when the toilets froze solid, that the grand four thousand square foot home was in great need of restoration. Thus, the Rupert's began their quest to restore this beautiful home to what it is today. All the restoration has been accomplished by the Ruperts themselves, and the ten year labor of love has resulted in this beautiful bed and breakfast hideaway for everyone to enjoy.
