Hurricane Policy
We understand and respect the concern and apprehension that may arise from an approaching hurricane. The following policies apply for each room booked: If the weather service issues a hurricane advisory or warning for the Charleston, SC area:
Guests residing at the inn may choose to evacuate. In this case, we will charge only for those nights spent with us up to the time of the evacuation.
For those guests with pending arrivals, we would retain the deposit and credit it to a future stay.
If there is NO hurricane advisory or warning for the Charleston, SC area (i.e. there is not an imminent threat): For vacation to be cancelled because a hurricane “might” make landfall near Downtown Charleston or that there “might” be an aftermath, deposits will NOT be refunded and will NOT be credited to a future stay. Your card will be charged the entire amount owed for the scheduled stay. If a hurricane has made landfall and The Palmer Home (or downtown Charleston) is not “fit” for guests: For guests with pending reservations affected by such a situation, we would retain the deposit and apply it to a future stay.
