Old Academy Bed & Breakfast
 Savannah, Hilton Head, Charleston, Beaufort and Edisto Beach are all just a short drive away. Large Oak Trees grace the roads and bountiful Azaleas bloom in the springtime. 		Old Academy Bed & Breakfast - Walterboro, South Carolina

The Old Academy was originally built and used as Walterboro's first schoolhouse. Owners Don and Jean Sterling bought it in 1990 and opened it as a bed and breakfast in 1996. In 1998, they were presented with the William Lowndes Award by the Colleton County Historical Society for preservation of an historic building.

Enjoy breakfast in our beautiful dining room. Jean's breakfasts are unbelievable--quiche, yogurt with fruit, muffins, grits with cheddar, bacon. Different with each visit, Jean's breakfasts are delicious.

Accommodations for guests include sitting rooms upstairs and downstairs, as well as a study and dining room. While enjoying our home reminiscent of the Old South with its large columned porch, guests also enjoy modern conveniences including central air and heat and television.
Nancy's Room - The largest of the four rooms available and located at the back of the house. This room has a private bath and king size pineapple bed. There is also a comfortable sitting area with a couch and a desk for working or reading.
Rate: $115/night
Dawn's Room - This quaint room has a comfortable double bed and one twin bed, a private bath, and is just right for children or traveling friends looking to share the cost of a room.
Rate: $95/night
Susan's Room - A cozy queen sleigh-bed and small sitting area and vanity offers just the right atmosphere for a good night's sleep. This room also has a private bath.
Rate: $80/night
Robin's Room - The other bedroom located at the back of the house. This room has a lovely four poster bed and plenty of extra room to relax and read a good book or plan your shopping trip to Beaufort or Charleston. This room also has a private bath.
Rate: $95/night

  • A one night deposit is required to hold a room.
  • A 48 hour notice is required for a refund.
  • Cash and Checks accepted (no credit cards).
