The King George Inn is a 200 year old (circa 1790s) "Charleston Historic House". The House is named the "Peter Freneau House", after a prominent Charleston journalist and co-owner of the Charleston City Gazette. Freneau was also a merchant, shipowner, and Jeffersonian politician, and lived in the house for many years. Located in the heart of the Historic Shopping and Dining District it is a 1 minute walk to King Street shopping and restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the Historic Market. The Inn is a Federal style house, four stories tall with three levels of lovely Charleston porches. All guest rooms have decorative fireplaces, either Federal or plain Gothic revival, 11' ceilings and 7' foot windows. All rooms have original lovely wide-planked hardwood floors, architectural moldings and antiques.

• Enjoy breakfast in the quaint Breakfast Room on the 1st floor, or eat on the porches.

• Refreshments are available all day in the Breakfast Room.

• Southern style breakfast with eggs, sausage, grits, waffles and homemade fruit breads; along with cereal, fresh fruits, herbal and flavored teas, milk, juice, breakfast yogurts, and a nice robust french roast coffee.

• We accommodate breakfast from 8:30 all the way to 10:30 for the guests who stay out late and sleep in!
