Introduction
Welcome to Charleston, long called "America's Most Historic City" and renowned as one of its most romantic. Lush gardens, artisans' ironwork, and period costumed docents set the stage for horse-drawn carriages through cobblestone streets.
Wander through her streets of gracious mansions and beautiful antebellum homes and breathe the air where heady perfumed gardens mingle gently with the sea breeze. As you reach Colonial Lake you will find the imposing Belvedere Bed and Breakfast. Its large flowing piazzas welcome you to your "home away from home" and invite you into this lovely residential neighborhood.
"Stepping through the threshold is like stepping into another time."
Exquisite mantels, wainscoting, chair rails, window and door surrounds of the Adam period date back to circa 1790 where they were lovingly retrieved from the original Belvedere Plantation. Whether you're enjoying the collections of silver and crystal, discovering something new among the large Canton china collection or merely sipping a glass of sherry and admiring the serenity of the lake's water, you will be aware that you are indeed somewhere special.
From the flowing stairway to the upstairs parlor to the beautiful accommodations in the three guest rooms, you will note the attention given to detail and your comfort at the Belvedere Bed and Breakfast. A gracious Southern continental breakfast is served mornings in the dining room downstairs, and afternoon sherry and homemade snacks are served in the upstairs parlor.
Fresh flowers and plants are seen throughout, and Oriental rugs, family antiques, and information of Charleston abound. The staff is always happy to assist you with tour, dining, and other reservations to make your stay more enjoyable.
The Belvedere is convenient to all of Charleston's famous house museums, many fine restaurants, antique shops, and other places of interest. Plus, the entire Lowcountry area is famous for its wonderful beaches, golf courses, tennis facilities, Civil War forts, gardens, and plantations.
