History
Built by Isaac Mazyck III after the fire of 1778, this three-story stucco house has a wide fan lighted entry on the south end of the front facade that accesses a side passage running the length of the dwelling, an unusual feature for this period. A second-floor drawing room follows the lead of earlier merchant houses on Church Street and stretches across the entire front of the house, high enough to catch the sea breezes. Mazyck, grandson of a Huguenot immigrant, died soon after its completion and bequeathed the house to his daughter, Mrs. Robert Wilson. The house remained in the Wilson family for more than a century. The courtyard is surrounded by the original servant's quarters, kitchen building and necessary dependencies for the main house. The Isaac Mazyck House is now the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Philip A. Middleton.
