As the capital of Rhode Island, Providence is the most populous city in the state. The city is located by the Providence River just before the Narragansett Bay. Experience the typical bonfires, classical and world music, and sculptures that are all part of this event. The younger crowd will enjoy the great underground music scene; be sure to check out a local newspaper for current shows. Spend a beautiful afternoon at one of the many Providence parks, like Roger Williams Park, the Prospect Terrace Park and Waterplace Park. History buffs will enjoy touring the pre-revolutionary houses in historic neighborhoods.
