Tea and Sympathy
The room is decorated with memorabilia from the surprising life of the young and attractive colonial widow Abigail Stoneman, who in 1766 became Newport's first woman entrepreneur -- opening a tea room, coffee house, provision shop, several bars, and two inns. She is also credited with developing coffee houses in Boston and New York.
The Tea and Sympathy State Room features king high-back Lincoln bed, sitting area with 2 chairs, marble-surrounded gas fireplace, 10-foot high ceilings, and iPod-enabled sound system with built-in room speakers. Accented in creamy yellows and blues, the marble bathing salon features a double whirlpool tub, pedestal sink, and separate shower. Located on the second floor. Rate range $250 - $395.
