1 cup dark brown sugar
1 stick oleo or butter
2 Tbsps light corn syrup
1 stick oleo or butter
2 Tbsps light corn syrup
Make syrup from above ingredients and bring to a boil. Pour into a 9 X 13 pan; cover with 1" slices of French bread. (Optional: add a few chopped pecans to bottom of pan before laying bread.)
Mix together:
1 1/2 cups whole milk or Half & Half (skim milk can be used for the
health conscience)
6 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
Pour over bread and refrigerate overnight. Bake next morning for about 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
