2 lbs. cooked ham, in pieces
4-5 apples, peeled & sliced
Alternate ham and apple slices in greased baking dish. Sprinkle layers with brown sugar, cinnamon, pepper and 1 tablespoon butter. End with apple layer.
Pour over ham & apple layers:
2 tablespoons lemon juice and 1/4 cup hard cider
Cook covered until apples are almost tender (about 30 minutes)
Pour over layers:
1 large egg, 1/2 cup milk, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder and 3/4 cup flour - beaten until smooth.
Bake uncovered at 350°-375° about 25 minutes until browned.
