Pastry:
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1 egg yolk (save egg white)
1/2 cup milk
Filling:
2 (3-oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
1 can Apple Pie Filling
Glaze:
1 egg white, beaten lightly
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2– 3 teaspoons water
- Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg yolk and milk, stir well. Divide pastry dough in half. Roll half of dough to 10 x 15 inches. Transfer dough to same size pan. Set aside.
- In small bowl, combine cream cheese and sugar; beat until smooth. Add egg; beat well. Spread mixture evenly over rolled pastry. Spoon apple pie filling over pastry.
- Roll second half of pastry to fit pan; place over filling, sealing edges. Paint with some of the beaten egg white. Bake 35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Mix glaze. Drizzle over warm pastry. Cut into serving sizes.
