Chocolate Cinnamon Sheath Cake

Cooking Time:

15 to 20 mnutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 eggs slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup buttermilk, can use regular milk with a tablespoon added of vinegar in substitution
  • Dash salt
  • 2-4 tablespoons cocoa, I usually use 4 rounded tablespoons of cocoa (My family likes a darker chocolate)
  • 1 stick butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar

Directions

2 cups sugar

2 cups flour

Sift together and set aside in large bowl.

2 sticks butter

4 tablespoons cocoa

1 cup water

 

Heat on stove to boiling and then mix with flour/sugar mixture in large bowl.

 

Add:

1 teaspoon soda

2 eggs slightly beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ cup buttermilk, can use regular milk with a tablespoon added of vinegar in substitution

Dash salt

Mix well and pour into greased sheath cake pan.  Bake 15-20 minutes at 350-375.

Icing:

2-4 tablespoons cocoa, I usually use 4 rounded tablespoons of cocoa (My family likes a darker chocolate)

1 stick butter

¼ cup milk

2 ½ cups powdered sugar

Cook above mixture on medium heat until creamy and pour over warm cake.  Serve warm with homemade ice cream.
