Date Nut Bread

From FLOWERS & THYME BED AND BREAKFAST
2 cups chopped dates
1 1/2 cups boiling water
Pour water over dates and let stand.

2 cups sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
Beat the above 5 ingredients together.

1 cup nuts
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. baking soda

Add to the creamed mixture and stir till blended.
Add the date mixture. Pour into a 13x9" pan.
Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes.
