Fresh Apple-Oatmeal Compote

Each year our apple tree gives us the main ingredient for this nutritional breakfast dessert.

Fresh Apple-Oatmeal Compote
3 envelopes oatmeal with maple and brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted
6 cooking apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar

Combine first two ingredients until mixture is crumbly. Place apples in a lightly greased 8-inch-square baking dish. Combine water and sugar; pour over apples. Top with oatmeal mix and bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
