Swedish Coffee Cake



  • 1 quart luke warm milk
  • 1 cake Fleishman’s yeast
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 pound melted butter
  • 1 1/2 teas. ground cardenion seed
  • 2 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 teas salt
  •   Flour


Make a sponge of the milk.
half c sugar, salt, yeast, and flour enough to make smooth sponge, let raise 2 hours in a warm place, and add remaining ingredients; add enough flour to prevent any sticking to your hands. Let stand and raise until it reaches the top of the pan.

Braid and make into rings. Put into greased pans in a warm place, and let raise again; beat 1 egg with 2 teas. sugar & spread the tops. Sprinkle little sugar before placing in oven. Place in moderate oven and bake as you do bread.
