Unbelievably Delicious Coffeecake

From
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup vegetable oil

2/3 cup crushed pecans

1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons soda
1 cup buttermilk (may substitute 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar plus milk to make 1 cup. Let stand 5 minutes before adding to batter).

Optional garnish: Cool Whip or whipped cream, cinnamon sugar, fresh fruit slices: Strawberry, kiwi, peach.

Preheat oven to 350. Combine first 6 ingredients till crumbs are formed. Remove 1/3 cup crumbs. In a separate bowl, mix 2/3 cup crushed pecans and crumbs. Set aside for topping. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased 8" x 11.5" 2-qt. or 9.5" x 13.5 3-qt. glass baking dish. Sprinkle topping over batter. Bake for 30 minutes or until seems firm on top. It's fine when appears collapsed in center as long as sides have lifted slightly from baking dish.

Serve warm. Just before serving, place a dollop of cool whip or whipped cream on each piece. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar and top with fresh fruit slice.

2 qt. serves 6 / 3 qt. serves eight.
