Ham and Cheese Breakfast Pudding

Ingredients: (Serves 6)
8 1/2 inch slices of crusty French bread, buttered on one sides
5 large eggs
3 cups whole milk
1/2 teasp. salt
1/4 teasp. freshly ground pepper
hot sauce to taste (Tabasco)
6 oz. shredded sharp cheddar preferably aged
6 oz. diced cooked ham

Butter a 8 inch square ovenproof dish.
Arrange bread slices in two rows buttered side up in dish.
Whisk eggs in a large dish, add milk, salt, pepper, hot sauce to taste. Mix well. Pour egg mixture over muffins.
Sprinkle with cheese and ham. Cover and refrigerate over night.
Next morning preheat oven to 325 degrees. Uncover dish and bake for 40 to 50 min. until puffed and no longer liquid in the middle and golden on top. Remove from oven and let stand 10 min. before serving.
