Blacksmith Inn Cherry Oatmeal Cookies

From BLACKSMITH INN ON THE SHORE
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1/2 t. nutmeg
2 t. cinnamon
4 T. milk
4 c. oats
1 1/2 c. dried cherries

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a large mixing bowl cream together shortening and sugars. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Combine next five dry ingredients. Add dry mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Mix in oats, then cherries. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 12 minutes. Yield: 32 cookies.
