Tom's Granola

Directions

Preheat oven to 325°.

 

1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey
2 cups brown sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon salt

 

In medium saucepan stir together above ingredients. Heat, stirring until brown sugar melts. The sugar and oil will remain separate.

 

24 cups rolled oats
2 1/2 cups toasted, sliced almonds

1 1/2 cups sunflower seeds
3/4 cups large flaked coconut

 

In very large bowl stir together oats, almonds, sunflower seeds and coconut. Pour on liquids, stirring well to distribute. Spread mixture onto baking pans. Bake 15-20 minutes, stirring twice. After removing from oven, add these ingredients:

 

3/4 cup large, flaked coconut

3/4 cup raisins

 

Allow to cool thoroughly before storing in airtight container.

*Add coconut both before and after cooking!
