Strawberry Syrup
Add to a four-quart pot:
1 bag of frozen strawberries
3 T sugar or to taste
1 T anisette liquor
1/8 tsp salt
Put over med-hi heat until strawberries are soft. Stir often an watch that pan doesn't boil over. Lower heat if necessary. Mash to a pulp. Pour into a serving bowl. Syrup will be very thick.

French Toast enough for 2
4-1" slices of French country loaf
1 T butter
Mix together with fork in low, wide bowl:
3 eggs
1 T milk or cream
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 T sugar
Put slices into egg mixture, one at a time. Soak for 30 seconds. Turn over and repeat. Meanwhile, put a skillet large enough for two pieces over medium heat. Add 1/2 T butter to pan. When butter foams, add two pieces of the soaked bread. Cook over medium heat until browned on both sides.
Repeat with remaining slices, keeping other slices warm in 200 degree
oven. Serve with Strawberry Syrup and Maple Syrup if desired.
