Brown Sugar Cookies presented by Jake 'N' Ivy's Bed & Breakfast

2 cups brown sugar
1 cup butter
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
2 Tbsps. hot water
4 cups flour
1 heaping tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream sugar and butter, add eggs. Mix soda and hot water, add to mixture,
mix well. Mix flour, baking powder and salt and add to mixture one cup at
a time. Add vanilla. Chill batter thoroughly. This is a very soft dough,
but it can be handled nicely if chilled. Roll and cut. Bake lightly at
350 degrees, do not overbake. Makes a soft cookie.
