When we serve this at our Inn, guests are awakened to the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Always a favorite at the Black Walnut!
1 loaf of Raisin Bread
1 8-ounce package cream cheese
7 eggs
3 cups milk
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Salt and pepper to taste
Icing sugar
Maple syrup
Slice and cube bread in one inch cubes. Cube cream cheese into small pieces and toss together and slightly greased 9 by 13 inch dish. Mix eggs, milk, cinnamon and nutmeg together and pour over bread mixture. Ensure that bread is completely covered. Keep refrigerated overnight or at least 5 hours.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Serve with maple syrup and icing sugar.
